[edit] History

A group of few third year students planned this event in October 2004, created a framework for the whole event and brought its first edition in April 2005 which bagged around 300 participants from various parts of the country. Prof. Vishwanathan Mohan, a young faculty working with SGGS then, lead this bunch enthusiastic students from first to third year. The Idea of Pragyaa had to face a lot of difficulties before it could come to reality. but none the less it was an effort to give platform to young, undiscovered talent. Since then Pragyaa has found a major place in institutional agenda and with continued improvisations, PRAGYAA has turned into a mega event. Every year it has grown to accommodate more events and more participants.

[edit] Popular Events: A Brief Overview

Dirt Race:
One of the most popular events hosted in Pragyaa has always been the 'Dirt Race'. Generally, the objective is to build a car with specified dimensions and restricted energy resources that can run through a pre-designed race track in the shortest time. The race track consists of various hindrances that could be anything like a gravel bed, an incline, mud pits etc. Every car individually gets three chances to record its best lap timing. Teams are shortlisted accordingly, and eventually a winner is chosen. The prizes at stake are usually among the highest and most handsome. It takes place in the Instrumentation Department. This event has witnessed huge audience in the past.

E-Pragyaa in 2007 and 2008 received entries from Oman thus making Pragya an INTERNATIONAL EVENT. Also Physicon was included which gave a new meaning to quizzing - making it Physics specific and thus more demanding. Prizes worth Rs. 150K were distributed. The theme songs included Heroes Unseen - the quality of which matched a professional track.

Again the size doubled in all aspects. Participation of over 1600 students, prizes over Rs. 252k were distributed this time. The events were organised with an objective of partcipation from all possible professional courses like engineering, agriculture engineering, fashion designing, architecture, animation and physics. The theme songs were in no way a child's play. Songs like Develop through Innovation and By My Side were appreciated by people even in San Diago and Canada and also Australia.
[edit] Pragyaa 2009: ReFORM…ReSEARCH…ReCYCLE…

It was the 5th ostentatious successful year of National Level Technical Fiesta, which was equally proficient in implementing its theme of Reform...Research...Recycle... It was an event that was home for over 34 technical events, an event that attracted larger number of Companies, an event that had a greater volume of participation from outside, an event that catered a bigger number of visitors, an event that was enriched by the presence of many multifaceted personalities.
